First Two Games.

Annoyingly my first attempt at this post didn’t work, so I’ll try to rmember what I said. This is a report on the first two games OF Fight Klub I played…

Both Games were Ash Williams versus Jason Voorhees. After the first game the decks changed ends and my opponent also changed.

Jason won both games.

First game was pretty even. I’d got my Damage Stack up to 7 points when Mr Hockey make finally embedded that machete in my brain so I considered it a good fight.

Second game was less close. In this one I’d taken over playing Vorhees and I smashed my opponent in the turn where she scored her fifth point of Damage. From the start I dominated the game thanks to some flat-out nasty fight values.

So, what did I think of it?

I liked it. The game looks good, plays well, is easy to pick up and easy to hook people on. Decipher seem to have another winner on their hands.

During these two games I did wonder whether the Villains in One were perhaps overpowered but I don’t think they are. In terms of “up front” fight value boosts the Villains are pretty awesome but I after looking them over I suspect that the Heroes have some more subtle card effects that will prove potent once the player gets a bit more experience at both playing and building with those cards.

I’m off now to rebuild my Ash deck and start begging for the price of another K of One and a couple of Two.

If you’re already playing FK : Enjoy. :-)
If not : Tell ‘em Fishy sent you. >:-)

Cards at last.

After a seemingly eternal wait my cards finally arrived [ delayed somewhat by the Royal Mail’s insistence on my going to collect them from the sorting office and paying a total of £11.16 in VAT and handling fee - mostly the handling fee :-( ]. After an initial perusal the cards seem good - the design and printing is all that I’ve come to expect from Decipher, though the cardstock isn’t as good as they’ve used in the past. I think I’ll end up using card sleeves on these. “One”, which is all I’ve ordered to begin with, has a good mix of cards for the different characters and it’s easy enough to put together one Hero and one Villain deck out of a single box, there’s even some choice of cards so I’ll be able to tweak them after a game or two. Hopefully I’ll get some games later today and can give a review of the way it plays once I have. Expect to see my thoughts on this fairly soon.

The sweetness of anticipation.

This morning I received notice that my cards have shipped, so now I’m eagerly anticipating finally holding those little pieces of high-colour fun in hot, sticky hands. :-)
I’ve been looking forward to this game since I first got the email telling me about it and, while there have a been a couple of moments when I’ve had my doubts, I have high hopes for this being a winner. Decipher’s previous efforts have always been excellent. Even today my Star Wars collection is larger than any of the CCGs that I own, and it’s still my favourite even though I was crap at it.
That’s it for today, I’ll post something else when I get the cards.
